Asim graduated from the University of Windsor with his Bachelor of Laws degree and received his Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in International Relations from York University. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2004, and articled with a boutique Family/Real Estate law firm in Brampton, Ontario.
Asim has since that time practiced in the areas of family law, corporate law, wills and estates law, immigration law and real estate law. His career has provided him with the privilege of working throughout the GTA. During his 15 plus years in practice, he has operated offices in the Brampton, Scarborough, and Markham, worked on his own, worked for a large Bay Street Firm and in partnership, all of these experiences have given him a unique perspective in numerous courts, and an understanding of how each courthouse functions. He most recently was an associate at a prestigious Bay Street firm as a senior family lawyer, and the sole immigration lawyer for the firm.
His involvement in the South Asian community has provided him with a unique insight into navigating the often difficult issues that arise in divorce, custody matters, property division and spousal support.
He keeps his clients’ best interests at the forefront of all his negotiations, Asim has an abundance of experience and knowledge whether your matter is in the litigation or negotiation phase of proceedings. Asim is a firm believer in taking advantage of alternatives to court litigation such as mediation and out of court settlements. This approach not only keeps the costs down but also ensures that both parties leave the process with a sense of achieving a fair and equitable resolution.
Asim actively advocates the need for each and every Canadian to have a will along with a set of power of attorneys. He is often quoted as saying “we work too hard, not to have a plan in place for where our hard earned money will go when our time comes…” He is passionate in representing his wills and estate clients. Asim has conducted Wills and Estate seminars for major banks, and not for profit organizations and looks forward to continuing to provide these free seminars as they provide knowledge to our communities which will in turn help protect us all.
Asim was born in Montreal, Quebec and grew up in Toronto, Ontario. He has invested his time and experience in aiding the development of the South Asian community, and the Toronto community more broadly by performing duties such as working on numerous boards in the not for profit arena, and holding an annual charity golf tournament which raises money for worthy Toronto based organizations.
He currently is the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Mehdavi Society of Canada.
Asim enjoys giving back to the community that helped him in his career by dedicating his time to charitable causes. He keeps active through his various sporting activities which include competing as an ice hockey goaltender year round, and participating in a Markham summer softball league. Above all else he enjoys driving and spending time with his family.
