Rick S. Gill

Rick attended law school at Washburn University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree. Rick has a strong background in Criminal Law and Civil Litigation.
Rick completed his Honours Bachelor of Art Degree in Criminology at Brock University. Rick then went to the United States of America to complete his Juris Doctor degree at Washburn University School of Law. While completing his Juris Doctor degree, Rick was an active member of the Criminal Law Society and the Pro Bono Society, helping create and implement initiatives to ensure more access to justice for all. 

Rick also worked with the Shawnee County’s Public Defender’s Office, where he worked on a plethora of cases and helped provide legal representation to those who would not have otherwise been able to afford representation.

Following that Rick worked with Washburn’s Civil Law Clinic where he was recognized for his dedication to his clients, passion for justice, and highly competent representation by being awarded the Irvine E. Ungerman Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice. Rick also was enrolled in Washburn’s Criminal Appellate Advocacy Program where he, in conjunction with his professor, worked on assessing and filing Criminal Defense Appeals to The Kansas Court of Appeals. Rick completed his studies at Washburn University School of Law with a Certificate in Advocacy and a lot of practical skills to compliment the immense theoretical knowledge and skills he has obtained.
Following law school, Rick worked with a highly prominent Criminal Defense Attorney in the Greater Toronto Area and was able to successfully assist and partake on many aspects of difficult Criminal Defenses. Rick then initiated his Articling with a Civil Litigation and Personal Injury Law Firm on Bay Street. In his capacity as an Articling Student, Rick was able to receive a lot of hands-on experiences and was exposed to a lot of different aspects of Civil Litigation and Personal Injury Law.
Being born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area, Rick has had the opportunity to be a part of a diverse and robust society. This has provided him with awareness and first-hand experiences to the barriers certain groups in society face when obtaining justice. As such he has developed a dedicated passion to participate in alleviating such barriers.
The practical experiences, theoretical legal skills, and his diverse upbringing has prepared him to be a dedicated and compassionate legal advocate.

Apart from work, Rick likes to stay active by working out, hiking, and playing competitive sports such as hockey, softball, soccer and golf.
